Overview

Quandela is a quantum computing company that designs and delivers quantum solutions for research and industry, including energy-efficient quantum computers for data centres and cloud-accessible full-stack systems. It has deployed industrial-grade systems since 2023. The company is hiring a full-time Software and Hardware Integration QA Engineer in Massy, France, to ensure the quality and reliability of its quantum computing systems.

The main focus is validating the integration between software and physical hardware, making sure software interfaces correctly control, communicate with and monitor equipment such as photon sources, laser control systems and other optical and electronic components. The engineer designs and automates integration and end-to-end tests and helps build robust validation processes as Quandela moves from low-volume, highly complex systems towards repeatable production, working with software, hardware, systems and industrialisation teams.

Responsibilities include defining QA plans, test strategies and acceptance criteria, designing and running functional, integration, system, regression and robustness tests on real equipment, building automated software-to-hardware and end-to-end tests, validating workflows from software commands to physical execution, troubleshooting communication over interfaces such as Ethernet and serial, and developing automated tests in Python with frameworks such as Behave and reporting tools such as Allure. The engineer also integrates tests into CI pipelines, tracks defects to resolution, maintains traceability between requirements, test cases and results, writes test reports and quality metrics, and improves industrial-grade validation practices.

Requirements

Quandela looks for around five years in software QA, system validation, test engineering or a similar role, hands-on experience testing systems that combine software and hardware, strong test automation and scripting skills ideally in Python, and structured QA experience including traceability and release validation. Strong analytical skills, clear documentation and professional English are expected. Experience in robotics, embedded systems, scientific instrumentation, photonics, semiconductor equipment, medical devices, automotive or aerospace is particularly relevant, and knowledge of IEC 61508 or ISO 9001 is appreciated. Hands-on experience matters more than a specific degree.

What you get

Benefits include a competitive salary, profit-sharing and savings plan, full health coverage, 50 percent transport reimbursement or a mobility bonus, meal vouchers, fitness support and childcare assistance. The hybrid model is three days a week onsite in Massy, one day in Paris and one to two days remote.

How to apply

The process includes talent acquisition and hiring manager interviews, a use case, a meeting with the teams, two reference checks and an offer.
