Chief of Staff - UK
Overview
Banyan Software acquires and permanently holds software businesses that serve specialised industries, operating more than 120 portfolio companies across North and South America, Europe and APAC. Founded in 2016, it has appeared on the Inc. 5000 list for six consecutive years, and its foundation is endowed with 100 million dollars in Banyan stock. It is hiring a Chief of Staff for the UK in London as part of its two-year Executive Leadership Program.
The Chief of Staff works directly alongside one of Banyan's Operating Leaders, each of whom oversees a portfolio of software businesses, and becomes a close partner to the CEOs and functional leaders of those companies. The role is deliberately broad: rather than a fixed rotation, the person moves across operating companies and problems, for example shaping a go-to-market plan at one company, improving customer onboarding at another or setting up the first 100 days of a newly acquired business. Initiatives are owned end to end, and the work includes exposure to software M&A, though the core is hands-on value creation. High performers can move into a CEO or C-suite role within a Banyan operating company or a leadership role at headquarters, though placement depends on performance and is not guaranteed.
The duties cover portfolio value creation, partnering with CEOs to put the Banyan Operating System into practice and leading cross-functional projects across product, go-to-market, sales, marketing, pricing and customer success; M&A and integration, including value-creation planning during diligence, integration planning and execution after deals close; and executive partnership, supporting the Operating Leader on critical initiatives and cross-company work, often influencing outcomes without formal authority.
Who can apply
The position is for people who have recently graduated from a top MBA programme, and this cycle is not open to first-year MBA students.
Requirements
Candidates need two to five years of pre-MBA experience in an operating role such as product, business operations, portfolio operations or value creation, or in management consulting, private equity or investment banking, with a record of owning measurable outcomes. Experience in software, SaaS or other recurring revenue businesses and team leadership are nice to have.
What you get
The programme offers a cohort of peers, direct apprenticeship with senior operators, external executive coaching in the second year, mentorship from experienced Operating Leaders and real operating responsibility with decisions that show up in a P&L.
