Overview
THG is a global ecommerce group in beauty and sports nutrition, and THG Nutrition is home to brands including Myprotein, described as the world's largest online sports nutrition brand, alongside Myvegan, Myvitamins and MP Activewear. It is hiring a Senior NPD Technologist in Manchester, United Kingdom, responsible for product innovation across the global Myprotein product category. The role works with brand, procurement, compliance and supply chain colleagues to deliver business priority launches on time.
Responsibilities include leading formulation development of sports nutrition products with cross-functional teams, coordinating product samples, tasting sessions and sensory reviews and documenting decisions, turning consumer needs, market trends, competitor activity and business priorities into product concepts and development briefs, and leading end-to-end project management across new product development with attention to prioritisation, communication and risk. The technologist also analyses market research and consumer insight, coordinates stakeholders across Brand, Category, Commercial, Quality, Regulatory, Technical, Procurement, Operations and regional teams, works with suppliers, manufacturers and flavour houses, supports positioning, claims, pack requirements and range architecture, and mentors junior technologists.
Requirements
THG asks for a degree in sports nutrition or food science or equivalent, three to five years in an R&D or NPD function, the ability to develop new formulations and improve existing ones with sensory skills, and an understanding of the development lifecycle from opportunity identification to post-launch review. Candidates should have a commercial mindset, strong project management across multiple projects and stakeholders, excellent communication, a structured and detail-focused approach, and experience working with suppliers, manufacturers or external development partners, which is essential. Knowledge of sports nutrition, powder products or performance ingredients and experience with global manufacturers are desirable, along with a passion for nutritional science, health and fitness.
