Overview

EH Group develops fuel cell technology for heavy-duty mobility and large-scale stationary power, with a redesigned fuel cell that is more compact, has high power density and costs less to produce. The company is hiring a full-time Product Safety and Certification Engineer for its fuel cell systems at its office in Nyon, Switzerland, with an immediate start. The purpose is to ensure products are safe, compliant and certifiable as the company works towards a decarbonised future.

The position leads hazard analysis and safety engineering across hardware, software and controls and owns the functional safety lifecycle for fuel cell systems from concept to release. Responsibilities include hazard and risk analyses such as HARA, HAZOP, FMEA, FMEDA and FTA with definition of safety goals, deriving safety requirements and concepts and allocating them to hardware, software and controls, and defining and verifying safety mechanisms, diagnostics and safe states with the controls and embedded teams. The engineer carries out safety calculations covering SIL, PL and ASIL determination and PFH and PFD metrics, prepares safety cases, safety plans and supporting documents for certification, works with notified bodies, certification authorities and customers on safety topics, and promotes a strong safety culture by coaching teams.

Requirements

The company requires a BSc or MSc in electrical, electronic, mechatronic, control or safety engineering and a minimum of three to five years of functional safety experience in industrial, energy or hydrogen systems. Team players who can work autonomously with internal and external experts are sought, with excellent English mandatory. Hydrogen, high-voltage or pressure system safety familiarity, French or German, and a functional safety certification such as TUV FSEng are a plus.
