Lead Bid Manager, UK&I (Public Sector technology)
Overview
Axon builds devices and cloud software for safety and justice, with the mission of protecting life. It is hiring a Lead Bid Manager for the UK and Ireland, focused on public sector technology, in London, United Kingdom. The role is part of a global team that supports Axon sales worldwide and reports to the Director, Global Proposals, with no direct reports.
The Lead Bid Manager is the senior proposal execution lead for the region and handles its most complex and highest-impact RFP and tender responses, proposals and other customer-facing selling documents. The person owns proposal development from early procurement engagement through submission and follow-up during evaluation, turning an established win strategy into a controlled response plan so the final submission is compliant, responsive, scorable, customer-focused and on time. The work focuses on UK and Ireland public-sector opportunities and involves Sales, Bid Strategy, Solutions Engineering, Product, Legal, Security, Pricing, Finance, Services and executives. The lead also strengthens regional proposal readiness, reusable standards, coaching and execution across bids owned by other Proposal Managers.
Main areas include proposal planning and execution, with workstreams, review cadence, decision gates and resolution of product exceptions and compliance issues; leading large cross-functional teams, enforcing deadlines and coaching proposal staff; project and compliance management covering governance, mandatory requirements, forms, portals and managing disqualification risks; proposal writing, challenging weak claims and producing coherent content for technical and non-technical evaluators; and regional leadership, building relationships with UK and Ireland sales and technical leaders and improving execution through standards, tools and training.
Requirements
Axon typically looks for eight or more years in proposal, bid or tender work, including repeated ownership of large, high-stakes submissions, and strong UK public-sector tender experience including procurement routes, frameworks, evaluation structures and submission mechanics. Experience with policing, public safety, central government, defence, justice or complex public-sector technology procurement is strongly preferred. Candidates need excellent writing and editing, the ability to influence senior stakeholders without direct authority, coaching skills, and comfort with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, CRM and proposal platforms such as QorusDocs, Responsive or Qvidian. Training or exposure to Shipley, APMP or Sant is preferred.
What you get
The role is office-based in the UK on a hybrid schedule, remote on Monday and in the London office Tuesday to Friday. Benefits include competitive compensation, UK retirement benefits and a company bonus scheme.
