Overview

EH Group develops fuel cell technology for heavy-duty mobility and large-scale stationary power. Its redesigned product is a significantly more compact fuel cell with high power density and lower production costs, intended to support a decarbonised, decentralised energy system. The company is hiring a full-time Functional Safety Engineer for hydrogen and energy systems at its office in Nyon, Switzerland, with an immediate start.

The engineer embeds safety into the fuel cell systems, leading hazard analysis and safety engineering across hardware, software and controls so that products are safe, compliant and certifiable. The role owns the functional safety lifecycle from concept to release. Duties include leading hazard and risk analyses such as HARA, HAZOP, FMEA, FMEDA and FTA and defining safety goals, deriving safety requirements and concepts and allocating them across hardware, software and controls, and defining and verifying safety mechanisms, diagnostics and safe states with the controls and embedded teams. The engineer also performs safety calculations including SIL, PL and ASIL determination and PFH and PFD metrics, compiles safety cases, plans and certification documentation, deals with notified bodies, certification authorities and customers, and coaches teams on functional safety practice.

Requirements

A BSc or MSc in electrical, electronic, mechatronic, control or safety engineering is mandatory, along with at least three to five years of functional safety experience in industrial, energy or hydrogen systems. Candidates need working knowledge of standards such as IEC 61508, ISO 13849, ISO 26262 or IEC 62061, hands-on experience with HARA, FMEA, FMEDA, FTA and safety requirements engineering, and an understanding of safety-related hardware, embedded software and control architectures. Excellent spoken and written English is mandatory. Familiarity with hydrogen, high-voltage or pressure system safety, French or German, and functional safety certification such as TUV FSEng are advantages.

What you get

The role requires full-time, on-site presence in Nyon. Remote and hybrid arrangements are not available, so candidates should be prepared to relocate.
