Engineering Manager

Overview

Radiant is building a vertically integrated AI platform that brings together physical infrastructure, control planes and cloud-native software, so organisations can build, train and deploy AI at national and global scale while keeping control over performance, cost and location. It is hiring full-time Engineering Managers in London, United Kingdom, as it scales its engineering organisation. Most manager seats are open, so new managers help shape how the teams work.

Engineering is organised into ten streams in three groups. Infrastructure covers Compute, Network, Storage and Cluster. Platform covers Cloud, Infra, Observability and Security. AI covers Training and Inference. Each stream is a full team of about nine people, including principal, senior and mid-level software engineers, an SDET, a DevOps engineer and a platform engineer, with its own engineering manager. Candidates do not apply to one stream; Radiant hires strong managers first and agrees the stream with them, and moves between streams are normal.

The manager leads one stream end to end across people, delivery and production. Duties include coaching and developing about nine engineers, owning planning, prioritisation, delivery, quality and operational readiness, turning product priorities into technical plans, providing technical leadership on architecture, reliability and scalability, setting practices for design, testing, observability, documentation and incident learning, managing technical risk and dependencies, and bringing AI-assisted engineering into daily work within guardrails. Hiring is a large part of the first year, around two hours a day.

Requirements

Radiant looks for experience leading teams building cloud platforms, infrastructure, developer tooling or distributed systems, with enough technical depth to take part credibly in architecture discussions. Useful understanding spans cloud infrastructure such as compute, storage, networking, Kubernetes and containers; platform engineering including APIs, automation, IAM, observability and reliability; distributed systems; and engineering operations such as incident response and capacity. Proven people management, hiring, coaching, delivery and prioritisation skills are required, and GPU, HPC or AI infrastructure experience is a bonus.
