Design Operations Lead

Overview

Gen is a digital safety company whose family of brands includes Norton, Avast, LifeLock, Avira, AVG, ReputationDefender and CCleaner, protecting more than 500 million people. It is hiring a full-time Design Operations Lead in London, United Kingdom, on a hybrid basis with three days a week in the office.

The lead supports day-to-day operations of Gen's global product design organisation, working with product designers, researchers, design leaders and cross-functional partners to improve the workflows, tools and systems teams rely on. The aim is to bring structure to planning, delivery, handoffs, reviews and team rituals so the organisation works with more visibility and consistency. Design Operations sits at the centre of this network, helping teams connect plans, tools, rituals and documentation.

Key responsibilities include facilitating planning and collaboration cadences such as sprint planning, milestone reviews, retrospectives and design critiques, and implementing workflow and process improvements through automation, documentation and tooling. The lead partners with design leads on timelines, milestone plans and delivery checkpoints, owns project-tracking systems such as JIRA and Figma, maintains team documentation and review records, structures design handoffs and stakeholder reviews, and supports continuous improvement through feedback loops.

Requirements

Gen asks for a degree or equivalent practical experience in design operations, UX, project or programme management, business or a related field, and five to seven years in design operations, UX programme coordination, project management or a similar role. Candidates should have supported a design, research, product or similarly collaborative team in a complex organisation, improved workflows and documentation, and worked with tools including Figma, JIRA and ClaudeCode. Strong communication, organisation, planning and facilitation skills are expected, along with the ability to analyse how work gets done and turn improvements into repeatable practice.
