Clinical AI Lead
Overview
Aptura AI works with frontier AI labs and companies in healthcare, finance and legal, supplying specialist knowledge and human oversight that make AI models more accurate and reliable in regulated fields. In healthcare it sources clinician experts and annotates medical data at scale, such as consultation notes, medical images and pathology reports. Past projects include SNOMED medical coding for medical device registration, AI-powered multidisciplinary team platforms and AI-assisted clinical trial recruitment. It is a lean, in-person team in London, and it is hiring a full-time Clinical AI Lead.
This is the second hire in the healthcare team, with significant responsibility and ownership from day one, working with the Head of Healthcare, a former NHS doctor and ex-founder, and directly with leading AI labs. The role involves keeping up with published literature on AI in healthcare, designing and publishing benchmarks with stakeholders, joining early customer conversations and sourcing the right clinicians.
Key areas are research, covering literature, benchmark design, publishing and relationships with researchers and industry partners; community building, which means growing the healthcare expert network, onboarding, communications and payouts, and engaging clinicians through hackathons, platforms and in-person events; and business development, supporting commercial and partnership activity including go-to-market motions and outreach.
Requirements
The essential requirement is to be a qualified medical doctor with at least one year of clinical experience. Aptura also looks for strong organisation across several projects, the ability to switch between clinicians, customers and operations without losing detail, a proactive, self-directed style in an environment where processes are still being defined, and strong research skills including critically appraising papers and publishing benchmarks. Industry or startup experience, familiarity with data annotation and designing evaluations for AI models, a record of publishing and working with academic institutions, and client-facing or business development experience are desirable.
