LCA Working Student
Overview
Emidat GmbH is hiring a LCA Working Student to join the team in Munich, Germany, on a part-time basis for 10 to 20 hours per week. The initial commitment is for a minimum of six months starting as soon as possible. The role requires working from the office. The position offers an opportunity to gain practical experience with environmental product declarations and life cycle assessments while working alongside a dedicated LCA team. There is also a long-term opportunity to support and supervise a practical master's thesis within the organisation.
What you do
The primary focus of the role is raw material matching, which serves as the backbone of every environmental product declaration and life cycle assessment produced by the organisation. During the first six months, responsibilities include mapping a product's input materials to the ecoinvent database using the Emidat Ecomapping tool. Responsibilities also involve researching life cycle assessment topics, such as product category rule requirements, and translating calculation rules into software logic. Additionally, the role involves supporting the day-to-day business of the life cycle assessment team and gaining insight into customer requests.
Requirements
Candidates must be enrolled in a degree programme focused on life cycle assessment, sustainability, chemistry, or materials science. Applicants need prior experience working with life cycle assessments through coursework, a thesis, an internship, or a previous working student role, alongside hands-on experience using the ecoinvent database. Candidates must also have hands-on experience using artificial intelligence tools to automate workflows, analyse data, or accelerate deliverables, as well as demonstrated project management experience in driving measurable outcomes from start to finish. Business fluency in English at C1 or C2 level is required. Preference is given to candidates already based in Munich who do not require visa sponsorship. Additional helpful attributes include fluency in German, familiarity with common life cycle assessment software, and a demonstrated interest in climate topics, software capture of technical processes, or the construction industry.
What you get
Compensation is provided at an hourly rate ranging from 20 to 24 EUR per hour. Additional benefits include 25 days of vacation per year on a pro rata basis and a learning budget of 5,000 EUR.
