Overview

Auterion, which builds a software platform for AI-powered autonomous systems used by enterprise and government customers, is looking for an Electronics Engineering Intern in Zurich, Switzerland. The intern gains hands-on experience designing, building, testing and debugging electronic hardware, working alongside senior engineers across the development cycle from schematic and PCB design through prototyping, testing, debugging and documentation.

What you will do

The intern builds, assembles, tests and debugs prototype circuits and PCB assemblies, assists with schematic capture and PCB design, and uses lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies and signal generators. Other duties include soldering and rework, developing and testing firmware for microcontrollers and embedded systems, analysing test results, documenting designs, tests and project progress, troubleshooting with senior engineers to improve hardware performance, and following engineering and laboratory safety procedures.

Who can apply

Candidates should be currently pursuing a Master's degree in electrical or electronics engineering or a related field. EU citizenship is required. Visa sponsorship may be available for suitable candidates.

Requirements

An understanding of analog and digital circuit design is expected, along with familiarity with PCB design tools such as Altium, KiCad or Eagle, hands-on experience with electronics lab equipment and basic soldering, and programming experience in C, C++, Python or similar. Familiarity with STM32, ESP32, Arduino or other microcontrollers is also sought. Knowledge of communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN or USB is a plus. Strong problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills are needed, and hands-on experience from university, robotics or personal electronics projects is highly valued.

What you get

Benefits include flexible working hours, a generous holiday allowance, car parking, enhanced maternity and paternity leave, and mental health and wellbeing support.
