Overview
The Master of Science in Health Professions Education is an 18-month graduate programme delivered by the University of Global Health Equity in Rwanda. Spanning three semesters and 180 credits, the curriculum utilizes a blended model that combines online learning with intensive in-person sessions to support working professionals. Students develop knowledge and practical skills in curriculum design, teaching and learning methods, clinical teaching, global health equity, educational leadership, and research.
Who can apply
Applicants must be citizens, residents, or recognized refugees in an African country and hold a completed Bachelor degree in a health-related field. Candidates must be 35 years old or younger at the time of application, though exceptions apply to applicants with disabilities. Eligible individuals must have professional experience in teaching, supervision, or educational leadership within health-related higher education institutions, or demonstrate clear teaching potential if early-career. Individuals who already hold a master degree are not eligible for the scholarship. The institution encourages applications from young women, refugees and displaced persons, and persons with disabilities.
What you get
Admitted students receive a fully funded scholarship through the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program to complete the MSc in Health Professions Education. The award covers the full 18-month programme, which results in a Master of Science degree upon successful completion. Students are not eligible to exit the programme early with a postgraduate certificate or diploma.
Requirements
Applicants must submit an official online application along with specific supporting documentation. The required documents include a passport, national ID, or refugee ID, official academic transcripts, a Bachelor degree certificate, and a signed and stamped institutional recommendation letter for currently employed applicants confirming institutional support and dedicated time for programme activities. Applicants must also provide personal, academic, and demographic information, alongside details required for the scholarship consideration.

Interested candidates must complete the official online application via the University of Global Health Equity portal, which includes the scholarship application, and upload all required supporting materials before the deadline. Only one complete submission per applicant is permitted. No application fees are charged by the university or the scholarship foundation.
