Overview
UNICEF is recruiting a Digital Impact Assistant at the G-5 level, a full-time fixed-term post within its Information and Communication Technology function. Working under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the assistant provides technical, operational and procedural support for the office's ICT environment, covering technical support, systems administration, cybersecurity, digital infrastructure and operational continuity. UNICEF works in more than 190 countries and territories to protect children's rights and well-being.
Responsibilities include supporting office users and troubleshooting hardware, software and application problems, installing and configuring hardware, deploying software, and supporting corporate technology platforms. The assistant also supports enterprise ICT applications, coordinates with technology service providers, monitors system performance, maintains digital infrastructure and updates ICT inventories. Cybersecurity and maintenance work covers preventive and corrective maintenance, system monitoring, backup and patch management, information security support, and user and database access administration. The role also helps plan and test operational continuity procedures and update business continuity documentation.
Requirements
Applicants must have completed secondary education, and further university study or technical training in computer science, information technology, engineering, networking or related fields is advantageous. A minimum of five years of professional ICT experience is required, in areas such as hardware installation, software deployment, technical support, end-user assistance, ICT documentation, help desk and systems administration.
Advantages include a degree in computer science or IT, technical certifications, Cisco Meraki network administration, ITIL certification or equivalent knowledge, and experience in international organizations, multicultural settings, the UN system or humanitarian ICT. Fluency in Spanish and basic English are required, while intermediate English and another official UN language are assets.
