Overview
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is recruiting an Administrative Assistant, also described as Dispatcher, for its Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People in East Jerusalem, Palestine. The post is full-time under the National Personnel Service Agreement at level NPSA-5. The postholder works under the Operations and Services Manager and collaborates with programme teams, operations staff, drivers, suppliers and other UN agencies to provide reliable administrative and transportation services.
Duties centre on coordinating daily transport for staff and official visitors, preparing weekly and monthly transport schedules, assigning work to drivers and supervising their compliance with UNDP procedures. The role also monitors vehicle maintenance and repairs, makes sure registration and insurance stay valid, keeps records of vehicle usage, maintenance and fuel consumption, supports transport cost recovery documentation, arranges transport for high-level UN missions, helps with document translation and communication, and handles other administrative tasks that keep the office running efficiently.
Requirements
Applicants need a High School Certificate and relevant experience in administration, logistics, transportation coordination, fleet management or office support. Useful strengths include organisational skills, computer literacy, communication, record management, time management, problem solving, professional judgement and the ability to work in multicultural teams. Experience with government institutions, humanitarian organisations or international agencies is an advantage.
Proficiency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of Hebrew is desirable and may strengthen an application.
