UNFPA Home-Based Consultant Job 2026: Business Operations Consultant in Fleet Management
Overview
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is seeking a home-based Business Operations Consultant to work with its Facilities and Administrative Services Branch (FASB), part of the Division for Management Services. FASB supports headquarters and field offices with facilities and asset management, travel, mail and pouch services and general administration. Reporting to the Chief, Administrative Services and UN Reform, the consultant focuses on global vehicle fleet operations while supporting digital transformation, automation, financial accuracy and operational efficiency.
The consultancy is expected to last six months from mid-January 2027.
Requirements
Applicants need secondary education plus supplemental training in finance or administration, and a university degree in finance, administration or a related field is an advantage. At least six years of relevant professional experience is required, preferably in fleet management, administration or supply chain operations. Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google tools and web-based management systems are expected. Experience in supply chain, UN Reform, data analytics and digital transformation helps, and experience with the Vehicle Tracking System, CLS Mobility, AI-enabled tools and digital monitoring is desirable. English is required, and French or Spanish is desirable.
The consultant supports the Global Shared Service UN FLEET vehicle leasing programme by coordinating renewals, replacements and leasing requests, supporting portal access, keeping records accurate, resolving data inconsistencies and monitoring representational vehicle budgets and invoices. They support financial processes tied to the Quantum financial lease module and IPSAS 43, and handle accident reports, third-party liability insurance, insurance guidance, fuel-use monitoring and field office enquiries.
The work also covers the Global Asset Disposal initiative, the global Vehicle Tracking System, including administration, transmission issues, passwords and new vehicle setup, training materials, coordination with service providers, and automation such as carpooling and fleet sharing. The consultant contributes to UN Reform efficiency gains and the Business Operations Strategy Annual Review. Deliverables include weekly status meetings, timely fleet requests, accurate records, invoices, insurance support and budget monitoring.
