The placement described here sits within the WYDE Women's Leadership Programme in Brussels, Belgium, and is full-time. Two interns will be engaged, each for up to six months.
The WYDE initiative, short for Women and Youth Democratic Engagement, works to strengthen women's participation in political and public life. Its approach includes challenging social norms that limit women's leadership, supporting young women, building networks, generating evidence, strengthening advocacy and raising the visibility of women leaders. It collaborates with civil society organizations, women's rights groups, decision-makers and media.
Key dates
The first placement runs from October 2026 to March 2027, and the second from April to September 2027. The application deadline is August 25, 2026.
What the interns do
Interns work under the supervision of the Programme Manager and coordinate with the WYDE Women's Leadership team. Their tasks cover several areas.
In communications and advocacy they support campaigns, events and advocacy initiatives, and may help produce social media assets, background papers, stories, articles and knowledge-management documents. They also follow communications from WYDE partners and funded organizations and help promote partner achievements.
They help coordinate events and activities, including the WYDE Programme Intergenerational Convening Event. In monitoring and reporting, they maintain information on funded civil society and women's rights organizations and review reports to draw out results and lessons. Knowledge-sharing tasks round out the role.
Requirements
English is required and French is desirable. The functional area is Leadership and Political Participation, and the post falls under the Internship Programme vacancy category. Applicants should be students or eligible recent graduates and should check that the timing of each placement suits their academic or professional availability.
