Staff Software Engineer - Alwin

Overview

Datasnipper is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the team in Amsterdam to build Alwin, an agentic automation platform designed for audit and finance. The role focuses on developing the runtime and systems for Alwin agents, which perform multi-step audit procedures using client evidence and generate finished workpapers where every number is traceable to its source. Most of the work involves hands-on coding, building runtime components, prototyping new capabilities, and advancing them into production.

Requirements

Applicants must have ten or more years of experience in software engineering with strong, production-grade Python skills and a habit of writing code regularly. Candidates need deep, hands-on experience building and deploying agentic or large language model systems in production, including control loops, tool calling, context engineering, and evaluation. The role requires a track record of personally solving ambiguous, high-impact problems across teams, experience mentoring senior engineers and growing technical leadership, and strong fundamentals in distributed systems, software architecture, and data modeling on a major cloud platform. Additional requirements include experience with security, access control, and auditability for regulated customers, product sense, proficiency with AI-assisted engineering, and clear written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with building platforms that other teams and customers build on is considered a nice-to-have.
