Overview
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies, is building a consultant roster of UX researchers. The post, vacancy notice 2259, is a home-based, remote consultancy of six months and is open to external candidates. Consultants may support projects involving ITU websites, digital engagement platforms, member and conference participant experiences, and document management systems.
Being on the roster does not guarantee continuous assignments for the full six months, as work depends on ITU's needs and available projects.
What you will do
The consultant plans and conducts UX research, including user interviews, surveys, usability tests, qualitative and quantitative studies and ethnographic work where suitable. Findings are analyzed and turned into personas, user journey maps, user stories and practical recommendations. The role also includes supporting co-creation and participatory design workshops, working with designers, developers and product managers, promoting accessible and inclusive digital experiences, and possibly developing UX research guidelines or toolkits.
Requirements
Applicants need an advanced university degree in human-computer interaction, user experience, psychology, social sciences or a closely related field, plus at least five years of professional experience in UX research and human-centered design for digital products. Candidates should show practical experience with usability testing, interviews, surveys and journey mapping, and understand accessibility and inclusive design. Experience in international organizations or multi-stakeholder settings is an advantage. Advanced English is required and French is an advantage.
What you get
Daily remuneration ranges from USD 280 to USD 650, depending on experience and expertise.
