Fòs Feminista is seeking a full-time Director of Legal Affairs to serve as the organization’s principal legal adviser. This leadership position operates within the Office of the CEO, Strategy & Impact and involves providing strategic guidance on governance, operations, advocacy, grantmaking, compliance, and organizational development. The successful candidate will help executive leadership navigate complex legal issues, regulatory changes, political developments, and reputational risks while supporting an international network of feminist organizations and partners.

Candidates need a background in corporate governance, nonprofit law, and managing multi-entity structures across multiple countries and legal jurisdictions. Applicants must have excellent written and spoken English alongside intermediate knowledge of Spanish. Additional advantages include experience with 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) entities, international grantmaking, philanthropic law, managing subsidiaries or federated structures, understanding challenges facing feminist and human rights organizations, and professional proficiency in Portuguese and French.

Requirements
The role requires the oversight of legal compliance across the United States, hiring locations, and other relevant jurisdictions, covering contracts, grant agreements, procurement, intellectual property, employment matters, privacy, and corporate compliance. Responsibilities include providing strategic legal counsel, supporting long-term organizational planning, maintaining an organizational risk register, and advising on nonprofit regulations, charitable solicitation, lobbying restrictions, advocacy activities, and tax-exempt requirements. The Director will support governance processes, maintain bylaws and corporate records, coordinate external law firms and pro bono partners, and comply with safeguarding policies including standards on preventing sexual exploitation and abuse.
