Overview
Médecins Sans Frontières Switzerland is offering a field-based position for an Emergency Pharmacy Coordinator to support emergency response operations across various humanitarian settings. The role involves contributing to responses involving conflicts, epidemics, natural disasters, nutritional crises, and displacement. The coordinator serves as the emergency medical supplies representative at the mission level, working on preparedness, detection, response, evaluation, and handover phases. The contract is a fixed-term appointment for one year and is renewable, with individual field interventions typically lasting between four weeks and three months.
Who can apply
Applicants must possess a pharmacy qualification that allows them to practice as a pharmacist in their home country. Candidates with prior Médecins Sans Frontières experience must have a minimum of 12 months of field experience as a Pharmacy Coordinator, at least two years of field pharmacy management experience across different contexts, and at least one emergency mission completed with Médecins Sans Frontières Switzerland. Alternatively, candidates without prior Médecins Sans Frontières experience must have at least three years of field experience in pharmacy management with other non-governmental organizations across diverse contexts, including emergency experience.
Candidates must possess strong knowledge of medical supply and pharmacy management, advanced computer literacy, proficiency in data-processing tools, and experience in supervising, coaching, and training others. The role demands flexibility, adaptability, and the capacity to work in multicultural environments. Fluency in both English and French is highly desirable, and applicants proficient in only one of these languages must demonstrate at least B1 proficiency in the other. Experience with Isystock and knowledge of Spanish, Arabic, or Portuguese are considered advantages.
