Overview

Fractile is a hardware company founded in 2022 that focuses on reinventing the hardware used to run frontier artificial intelligence models, specifically addressing inference speed and output generation limitations. The organization builds chips and systems designed to efficiently generate output at scale while handling capacity challenges for large models at long contexts. The hardware team manages full-chip architecture definition, memory hierarchies, on-chip interconnects, and the complete process from architectural exploration to tapeout and post-silicon validation. The role is based in Europe, with physical office locations in London at JJ Mack and Bristol at The Crescent.

Who can apply

Candidates should possess a degree such as a BEng, MEng, MSc, or equivalent in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or have equivalent practical experience. Applicants need a solid foundational understanding of SoC or computer architecture, including memory hierarchies, on-chip interconnects, and the integration of compute, memory, and input-output blocks into a coherent chip, acquired through academic study, projects, internships, or research. Additionally, candidates should have some exposure to RTL design concepts and an understanding of how physical design constraints affect architectural choices.

Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate a strong foundational understanding of computer or system-on-chip architecture built through coursework, personal projects, internships, placements, or research. Familiarity with architectural performance modelling tools, interconnect design, compiler interactions, or AI acceleration through study or projects is highly valued. The role requires clear communication skills, comfort working across architecture, modelling, implementation, verification, and software teams, and the ability to thrive in ambiguity and fast iteration. Furthermore, the work involves technologies subject to international export control regulations, and certain roles may require additional eligibility checks for compliance.

What you get

The position offers a competitive salary reflective of experience and the specialist nature of the role, alongside meaningful equity to share in value creation. Additional benefits include private medical, dental, and vision coverage, a contributory pension, 25 days of holiday plus bank holidays, and life and critical illness insurance.
