AI - Enabled Software Engineer
Overview
Mark43 is hiring an AI-Enabled Software Engineer to join a next-generation AI-augmented engineering team. The role focuses on rethinking how software is designed, developed, and delivered by building smart systems using intelligent agentic or related tools. The organization builds software for public safety agencies and first responders, with platforms trusted across North America and the United Kingdom. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the hiring country, as visa sponsorship is unavailable.
What You’T Do
The selected software engineer will work at the intersection of artificial intelligence and software development, experimenting with agentic workflows and integrating AI tools into the engineering stack. Responsibilities include designing multi-agent systems with coding-focused agents that can plan, write, review, test, and deploy software collaboratively. Candidates will write prompts, logic, and scaffolding to guide agent behavior, handle tool use such as version control and file system access, and evaluate agent outputs and feedback loops. Duties may also involve prototyping coding assistant workflows, leading architecture discussions on agentic build pipelines, mentoring teammates, and participating in an on-call rotation.
Requirements
Candidates must have at least five years of professional software engineering experience alongside proficiency in Java, TypeScript, React, and MySQL. Applicants are required to have extensive applied experience with AI-assisted development tooling, including LLM APIs, Cursor, Windsurf, codegen platforms, vector databases, agentic frameworks like LangChain, or custom-built systems. Additional qualifications include a strong product mindset, a bias toward experimentation, and comfort operating in ambiguity. Employees are required to follow security policies, protect company resources, report security violations, and appropriately use electronic information resources.
