Payments and Reconciliations Intern (f/m/d)

Overview

Upvest is seeking a Payments and Reconciliations Intern to join its Operations department in Berlin. The internship takes place within a fast-paced environment where the intern will support the team with day-to-day business-as-usual tasks. The company aims to make investing as easy as spending money by providing an Investment API that allows fintechs and financial institutions to offer capital market investment and retirement planning products.

The intern will gain hands-on experience by learning payments and reconciliations processes while working alongside a motivated team of experts. Responsibilities include the timely processing and reconciliation of inbound and outbound payments and treasury processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency. The role also involves monitoring customer payments and related transactions to support cash flows, preparing cash and securities reconciliation reports, and investigating and resolving discrepancies between internal cash records and external statements. Additional duties consist of monitoring operations bank accounts, supporting customer queries and audit processes, and facilitating communication with banking partners.

Requirements

Candidates preferably hold a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Applicants must possess strong investigative and analytical skills, the ability to identify errors, and fluency in both written and verbal English, with German considered a strong advantage. The role requires exceptional communication abilities to foster business relationships with stakeholders, along with the capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Experience in data analysis and process automation using data visualization tools, SQL, Python, or similar is noted as a plus.
