AI Engineering Internship Program (Summer 2027)
Overview
Roku offers a 12-week paid internship program running from June to early September 2027. Interns join engineering teams in Manchester to help build agentic artificial intelligence for a major TV streaming platform. Participants work on scoped projects with mentorship, taking ideas from prototypes to production-grade applications that serve millions of households.
Who can apply
Applicants must be penultimate-year students or final-year students planning to continue to a one-year master's course. Candidates are required to hold a permanent right to work in the UK, as student visas cannot be considered. Applicants must be available for full-time work throughout the 12-week program in Manchester and have a keen interest in artificial intelligence technologies alongside previous experience building AI agents and automated workflows.
What you get
Interns receive a paid placement featuring real project ownership, mentorship, and opportunities to build production-grade AI systems. The role involves working in a hybrid environment where teams generally work in the office from Monday through Thursday, with Friday flexibility.
Requirements
Candidates are expected to have previous experience building AI agents and automated workflows. Preferred qualifications include current enrollment in a degree program focused on Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, as well as proficiency in Python demonstrated through projects, open-source contributions, or hackathons beyond coursework. Applicants should possess hands-on experience building LLM-powered or agentic systems that execute multi-step work, familiarity with agentic patterns such as retrieval and tool use, sound engineering judgment regarding AI-generated code, and a solid grounding in computer science fundamentals.
