Overview

Upvest provides an Investment API that lets fintechs and financial institutions offer investment products and retirement planning, and it partners with firms such as DKB, Revolut, N26 and Raisin. Founded in 2017, it has more than 270 employees from over 70 nationalities and is backed by 280 million euros in total funding, including a 105 million euro round in March 2026. It is offering a full-time, six-month internship as an AFC (Anti-Financial Crime) Operations Intern in Berlin, Germany. Depending on performance and business needs, the internship may be extended or converted into a full-time position.

The intern works on the front line of financial crime defence, running Upvest's first-line-of-defence AFC processes day to day, which means the case work that keeps its brokerage infrastructure clean and compliant. The role suits someone with a first exposure to AFC or KYC, or to the financial sector more broadly, through studies, customer support, banking operations or a previous internship, who is ready to take on a real caseload and grow in autonomy.

Tasks include PEP and sanctions screening, researching hits and deciding whether they are true matches or false positives with documented reasoning, KYB checks for corporate onboarding, KYC sample checks, transaction monitoring and client follow-ups, and executing AFC procedures and controls in line with regulation and internal policy. The intern also helps improve automation and tooling, such as AI assistants, workflow automation with n8n, data validation and reporting in Google Sheets, Apps Script and Looker and basic SQL, and works with the AFC Ops team and the AML team.

Requirements

Upvest looks for a strong analytical mindset, exceptional attention to detail and genuine interest in compliance and financial-crime prevention, with a foundational understanding of KYC and AML concepts from studies, an internship or early work in a fintech or financial institution. Comfort with high-volume, repeatable operational tasks, curiosity about automation, excellent communication and good English are expected. Early experience in a regulated environment is a plus, and a completed bachelor's degree is preferred but not essential.

What you get

Upvest offers impact-driven work on modern technology without legacy systems, company-wide events such as UpFest, dinners, offsites and a holiday party, and Employee Resource Groups that support inclusion.
