PhD Studentship: Mathematical biology and population dynamics
Overview
The School of Mathematics at the University of Birmingham is offering a PhD studentship in mathematical biology and population dynamics. The project will develop mathematical models of population dynamics in biological systems, combining dynamical systems theory, mathematical modelling and data-driven approaches. It will explore how populations change over time in response to ecological interactions, environmental variability and other biological processes, with the aim of providing new theoretical insights and quantitative tools for understanding complex population behaviour.
What you get
For UK and EU candidates, funding may be available through a college or EPSRC scholarship in competition with all other PhD applications. The scholarship covers tuition fees, training support and a stipend at standard rates for 3 to 3.5 years.
Who can apply
For non-UK and non-EU candidates, strong self-funded applicants will be considered, and exceptionally strong candidates may be awarded a tuition fee waiver for up to three years in competition with all other PhD applications. Chinese candidates can also look at the China Scholarship Council scholarships, including the CSC PhD Scholarships Programme at the University of Birmingham and the China-UK PhD placements and supervisor mobility grants.
How to apply
Early applications are strongly recommended, and strong candidates are encouraged to make an informal enquiry. The annual deadline for scholarship applications is midday UK time on 31 January, although late applications may also be considered.
