Chevening Scholarship 2027 in UK | Fully Funded | Study in UK
Overview
The Chevening Scholarship is a UK government award that funds a one-year master's degree at a UK university for students from eligible countries. It has supported future leaders since 1983, and scholars are chosen for their potential to lead and bring change in their home countries. The award is delivered by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office together with partner organizations, and it builds a network of alumni that continues after graduation.
What you get
The scholarship covers tuition fees, a monthly living allowance, an economy class return air ticket and visa fees. Additional grants cover extra expenses, and the cost of a TB test is reimbursed where one is required. Scholars receive a cash card on the day of arrival.
Who can apply
Applicants must be citizens of a Chevening-eligible country or territory and must be able to return home for at least two years after the award. They need an undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK upper second class (2:1) honours degree and at least two years of work experience, or 2,800 hours. They must apply for a full-time master's course of exactly 12 months, apply to three different university courses, and receive an unconditional offer from one of them.
British nationals and dual British citizens are not eligible, except citizens of British overseas territories applying from Hong Kong. Refugees are eligible only if they are in a Chevening member country. Current and former employees of His Majesty's Government, and their relatives, cannot apply, nor can staff of Association of Commonwealth Universities members. Employees or relatives of a Chevening partner organization may apply but cannot receive a partner award from that organization. People already in the UK on UK government funding are not eligible.
How to apply
Applications are made in English through the online application system, ideally on a laptop or PC using Google Chrome. Documents must be JPG, PNG or PDF files no larger than 5MB, with file names of no more than 50 characters. The form includes four essay questions, each between 100 and 500 words. There is no autosave and each session expires after 60 minutes, so progress must be saved manually.
Applicants have three attempts to complete the eligibility form correctly. Only one application is accepted per year, and it cannot be changed once submitted.
