University of Warwick Postgraduate Research Scholarships 2027 – Fully Funded PhD Scholarships in the UK
Overview
The University of Warwick is offering up to 80 postgraduate research scholarships for doctoral students starting their studies in October 2027. The programme aims to attract research talent and support doctoral research across six separate funding streams, which include faculty-based awards, interdisciplinary projects, arts and humanities topics, access pathways, sanctuary provisions, and the China Scholarship Council scheme. Successful candidates are entered into the competition through a single scholarship application, evaluated according to the terms of their chosen stream.
Who can apply
The programme is open to applicants of various nationalities and fee statuses, depending on the specific rules of each funding stream. Eligible candidates must apply for an eligible doctoral course at the University of Warwick, such as a PhD, MPhil/PhD, EngD, or the PhD stage of a combined programme, with a planned start date in October 2027. Applicants must meet the standard admission requirements of their chosen programme and any criteria specific to their selected funding stream. Current postgraduate research students are not eligible for the Faculty Chancellors scheme, and awards cannot be deferred to future academic years.
What you get
Selected researchers receive full academic fee coverage at the applicable UK or international rate, alongside a tax-free maintenance stipend for living costs. Depending on the funding stream, benefits may also include research support grants, annual leave of up to eight weeks per year, options for temporary study suspension, disability support, and professional development opportunities. The Faculty Chancellors stream provides up to 30 awards featuring a UKRI-rate stipend for 3.5 years, a £5,000 Research Training and Support Grant, paid family and medical leave, and potential assistance with UK visa and immigration costs for international recipients. Part-time funding is adjusted to 60 percent of the full-time rate with an extended funding period.

Candidates must first submit an application for an eligible doctoral course through the University of Warwick system. After submitting the course application, applicants must wait to receive a seven-digit applicant ID via an automated email, register an ITS applicant account, and then complete the separate online scholarship application via the designated university portal along with all required supporting documents.
