Overview

The Global Network of Young People Living with HIV is seeking applications from young leaders living with HIV to join its Board for the 2027 to 2029 term. Board members provide strategic guidance and oversight, help shape programme priorities, contribute to organisational decisions, and ensure the representation of diverse regions. The positions offer advocates an opportunity to influence organisational strategy, strengthen youth-led networks, and contribute to global discussions on HIV and human rights.

Who can apply

Applicants must be under 30 years old at the time of application and openly living with HIV. Candidates must be nationals or citizens of a country within North America, the Caribbean, Eastern and Southern Africa, or West and Central Africa. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English, strong communication skills, and experience working in national or regional HIV and sexual and reproductive health responses. Candidates need experience working with youth-led or youth-serving organisations, a commitment to empowering young people, and a willingness to commit to a two-year voluntary board position while demonstrating cultural sensitivity and collaborative abilities.

What you get

The board positions are voluntary and unpaid. However, selected board members receive support for communications costs, approved travel, accommodation, and per diem costs for official meetings and representation. Members also gain access to capacity-strengthening opportunities, including leadership development, governance training, and advocacy-related learning activities.

Requirements

Board members must contribute to the strategic, ethical, and accountable leadership of the network. Responsibilities include providing strategic guidance for the strategic plan, participating actively in virtual and in-person board meetings and working groups, and contributing to the development, review, and approval of relevant policies. Members must also strengthen relationships with regional youth organisations, provide quarterly written regional updates, offer technical input, and support technical assistance plans. Additional duties involve representing the organisation at meetings and conferences when selected, submitting reports after official events, supporting senior Secretariat recruitment and oversight, and participating in annual governance reviews.

How to apply

Eligible young leaders can apply by completing the official online application form.

Key dates

The application period closes on 25 October 2026. Applications are reviewed from 26 October to 8 November 2026, with shortlisting and interviews scheduled for November and final results expected to be announced in December 2026.
