UNOPS Senior Advisor – Sustainable Solutions for Malaria Commodities | Home-Based Opportunity 2026
Overview
The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is recruiting a Senior Advisor for Sustainable Solutions for Malaria Commodities to support the RBM Partnership to End Malaria. The role is home based, allowing remote work, and is classified ICS 11 / IICA 3 under a regular Individual Contractor Agreement. It is a short-term retainer ending in March 2027. The advisor works under the direct supervision of the RBM Technical Coordinator and collaborates with governments, regional institutions, international organizations and other strategic partners. The work contributes to the Big Push Against Malaria, which aims to speed up elimination through stronger country leadership, regional collaboration and partnerships.
The role
The advisor gives strategic and technical advice to the partnership and malaria-endemic countries on sustainable solutions for malaria commodities, including emerging opportunities and risks around market shaping, country readiness, localization and regional manufacturing. Work on market shaping supports efforts to improve affordability, availability and sustainable access to priority products, with coordination among global, regional and national partners. The advisor also advises on localizing and regionalizing manufacturing, especially in Africa, and helps countries prepare to introduce and scale new and existing commodities by assessing gaps in policy, regulation, financing, procurement and supply chains, and contributing to guidance, readiness frameworks and country support packages.
Requirements
UNOPS requires a Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as public health, medicine, pharmacy, epidemiology, health economics, business administration, international development, supply chain management or engineering. Applicants need at least seven years of progressively responsible experience in global health, health commodities, pharmaceutical or health-product markets, supply chains, country readiness or market shaping, including strategic technical advice in international health programmes. Experience with malaria commodities such as medicines, diagnostics, vaccines or vector-control products is required, and experience in malaria-endemic countries, particularly in Africa, is an asset. Fluent English is required and basic French is desirable. Strong analytical, facilitation, coordination and partnership skills are also expected.
How to apply
Candidates review the official vacancy requirements and show how their education and experience match. Late applications will not be considered. UNOPS states that it does not request payment at any stage of recruitment.
Key dates
The vacancy was published on 26 August 2026. Applications close at midnight Copenhagen time (CET) on 2 September 2026.
