United Nations Consultant Job 2026: Communications and Programme Management Opportunity
Overview
The Beyond Lab at the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) is looking for an experienced communications consultant. The role covers strategic communications, storytelling, audience engagement, donor and partnership communications, knowledge translation and programme coordination. It is based in Geneva, Switzerland, and runs from 1 October to 31 December 2026 under the overall supervision of the Director of the Beyond Lab.

What you get
The consultant will shape the Lab's brand strategy, positioning and communications plan, turning technical work on topics such as participatory policymaking, Beyond GDP, anticipatory governance, behavioral sciences and multilateral reform into audience-specific stories. Products include key messages, presentations, briefing materials, web and social media content.
The work also includes outreach to Member States, UN entities, civil society, youth, academia, foundations and the private sector, support for events and launches, and donor-facing materials such as concept notes, funding briefs and pitch decks.
Requirements
Applicants need an advanced university degree in communications, marketing, environmental management, social and behavioral science, international relations, political science or a related field. Two years of relevant experience may be accepted in place of an advanced degree. At least five years of professional experience in strategic communications, brand strategy, audience marketing, storytelling or communications research is required.
Experience with audience research, campaigns, event production, content development or workshop facilitation is desirable. Fluency in English and knowledge of French are required, and Spanish is desirable.
