UNIDIR Team Assistant Job 2026: G-4 Opportunity in Geneva
Overview
The United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) is recruiting a full-time Team Assistant at the G-4 level in Geneva, Switzerland. UNIDIR is a voluntarily funded, autonomous institution within the United Nations that conducts research and promotes dialogue and action on disarmament and international security. The assistant provides office, documentation, scheduling, financial and logistical support across several UNIDIR programmes.
The temporary contract begins on 16 November 2026, with a negotiable start date. The initial appointment is for 364 days and may be extended depending on satisfactory performance, funding and organizational requirements. The post is subject to local recruitment, so it carries no benefits of international recruitment.
Who can apply
Applicants need a high school diploma or equivalent and at least three years of experience in general office support or a related area. Administrative experience within the United Nations or another international organization is desirable, as is experience with an enterprise resource planning system in a large organization, preparing and editing official correspondence, compiling statistics and using Excel.
UNIDIR looks for professionalism, integrity and respect for diversity, plus teamwork, planning, organization, a client-oriented approach, strong communication, document editing and the ability to prioritize and work to deadlines under pressure. Fluent English, written and oral, is required, and another official UN language is an advantage.
Requirements
Duties include routine correspondence, documents and reports, monitoring schedules and administrative processes, organizing information for meetings and briefings, proofreading and editing, maintaining calendars, data entry, electronic and paper filing and database updates. The assistant also provides logistical support for meetings, conferences and events, including presentations, printing, translation, couriers, distribution lists and travel, visa, procurement and expenditure requests, may initiate and monitor contractor invoice payments, and helps colleagues with software and office equipment. Travel may be required, and the successful candidate must complete the UN BSAFE online course and other mandatory training.
