Overview

The United Nations Development Programme offers a six-month research internship linked to its Sustainable Finance Hub and the Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development. The vacancy lists Istanbul, Türkiye, and Home Based as locations. The internship centres on SDG financing and impact investing, with exposure to research, writing, knowledge production, project support and digital communications.

The Sustainable Finance Hub helps mobilize and align financing with development priorities, with work organized around public finance for the SDGs, private finance for the SDGs, and global and country financing policy frameworks. The Istanbul Center is one of UNDP's Global Policy Centers and works with governments, businesses and foundations to encourage private-sector participation in sustainable development, through research, policy advice, advocacy and support for public-private dialogue.

What the intern does

The intern provides research, writing and editing support on impact investing and SDG financing, which may include reviewing financial and development trends and contributing to written knowledge products. They help publish knowledge stories and best practices, support the design and implementation of initiatives and programmes, and prepare communication materials such as speeches, brochures, success stories and social media content.

Digital content is another part of the work, including blogs, images, infographics and videos for social media campaigns. The intern may also give administrative support and complete other tasks set by the supervisor.

Who can apply

Applicants must meet UNDP internship education requirements at the time of application. Eligible candidates include those enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme such as a master's or higher, those in the final academic year of a first university degree, recent graduates able to start within one year of graduating, and those in an eligible postgraduate professional traineeship programme where the internship is part of it.
