Overview

Greenpeace Middle East and North Africa is seeking experienced professionals to serve as Supervisory Board Members. This voluntary, unpaid governance role involves helping guide the organization's strategic direction, strengthening accountability, and supporting long-term development across the region. The initial appointment lasts for three years and is renewable once for an additional three-year term.

Who can apply

This opportunity is suited for senior professionals with at least ten years of experience in areas such as governance, strategic leadership, organizational development, finance, fundraising, climate justice, legal affairs, communications, and institutional oversight. Applications are particularly relevant for candidates from or connected to Morocco, Tunisia, and Jordan who understand the local social, political, and environmental context. Current Greenpeace employees, individuals who left Greenpeace within the past year, individuals employed or contracted by governments, ministries, or embassies, and those with material financial interests in industries targeted by Greenpeace campaigns are ineligible to apply.

What you get

The position requires an estimated time commitment of 15 to 20 hours per quarter, which includes participating in about four board meetings annually, engaging in committee work, and handling occasional additional responsibilities.

Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate sound professional judgment, a commitment to the organization's mission, and the ability to contribute to board-level discussions. Board members are responsible for reviewing and approving strategic directions, annual budgets, financial plans, financial statements, and risk resilience measures. Additional duties include overseeing executive performance, recruiting the Executive Director, protecting the organization's independence, and maintaining alignment with Greenpeace MENA values.
