Overview

The Regional Psychosocial Support Initiative is a pan-African organisation working to enhance the mental health and psychosocial wellbeing of vulnerable populations across 13 African countries. Operating for over two decades, the organisation addresses challenges such as poverty, conflict, HIV and AIDS, and climate change by partnering with governments and community stakeholders. The organisation is currently seeking a Chief Executive Officer to provide executive leadership, guide its 2026 to 2030 strategic plan, and direct operations from the headquarters located in Randburg, South Africa.

Who can apply

Individuals with a master degree in Management, Social Sciences, or a relevant discipline are eligible to apply. Applicants must bring ten years of overall relevant professional experience, including at least eight years in senior leadership. Candidates are required to have background knowledge in mental health and psychosocial support in Africa, corporate governance, financial management, and resource mobilisation. Prior experience managing a multinational or multi-branch organisation serves as an advantage. Essential personal attributes include ethical leadership, strategic thinking, strong communication, negotiation skills, and the capacity to travel regionally and internationally up to 50 percent of the time.

Requirements

Interested applicants must submit an updated curriculum vitae, a one-page written motivation, contact details for three work-related referees, and certified copies of both academic qualifications and identification documents. All application materials must be sent via email using Chief Executive Officer as the subject line.
