Senior Stack Scientist

Overview

Eh Group is hiring a full-time Senior Stack Scientist based in Nyon, Switzerland, to lead scientific investigations into fuel cell stack performance and aging. The role connects cell-level electrochemistry with stack-level design, operating conditions, and manufacturing to develop stacks that feature higher power density, extended lifespans, and repeatable performance.

Requirements

Applicants must hold a PhD or MSc in electrochemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, physics, or a related field, alongside twelve or more years of experience in fuel cell stack development or testing, with a preference for PEM. Candidates need a strong grasp of stack physics covering water and heat management, reactant distribution, contact resistance, and compression, as well as hands-on experience with stack test benches, cell voltage monitoring, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and durability or accelerated stress test protocols. Additional requirements include a solid understanding of membrane electrode assembly, gas diffusion layer, and bipolar plate degradation mechanisms, alongside experience with data analysis and modelling tools such as Python, MATLAB, or COMSOL. Management experience is required, fluency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of French or German is considered a plus.
