Senior Detection & Response Engineer, Cyber Defense

Overview

Nscaleoperationsukltd is seeking a Senior Detection & Response Engineer for its Cyber Defense team in Europe. The role involves working in a three-year regional rotation where roughly one week out of three is spent on operational duties such as taking escalations and commanding incidents, while the remaining two weeks focus on engineering work, including closing detection coverage gaps, building automation, and preparing for future incidents.

Requirements

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of experience in detection engineering, incident response, security operations, threat hunting, security engineering, or related fields. Candidates need strong detection judgement, fluency in modern attacker tradecraft and how it appears in telemetry, and working knowledge of Windows, macOS, and Linux internals. The position also requires experience with incident command during significant incidents, practical knowledge in building and securing public cloud environments such as AWS and GCP, a strong inclination toward automating repetitive tasks using query languages, scripting, APIs, or workflow automation, and hands-on investigation experience across endpoint, identity, cloud, SaaS, network, or production workloads.
