SARD Governance Consultant 2026 (Remote): Complete Guide to the Feminist Governance Consultancy, Eligibility, Responsibilities and How to Apply
Overview
Badael, acting on behalf of SARD, is seeking a Governance Consultant for a remote consultancy. SARD is a regional feminist oral history network, founded in February 2022 by four feminist organisations: Al-Rowat for Studies and Research, Badael, Knowledge Workshop, and Women and Memory Forum. It works across the Arabic-speaking region to document and preserve the experiences and collective memory of feminist actors, grassroots communities and marginalised groups.
As the network enters a new phase of institutional growth, the consultant will guide members through a participatory process to explore governance models and decide on a future institutional structure. The approach rests on feminist facilitation and shared leadership rather than a predefined structure or top-down recommendations.
The work runs in four phases. First comes an assessment of current governance arrangements, decision-making practices and the hosting model, including consultations and interviews, an inception report and a detailed workplan. Second, the consultant researches comparative governance models used by regional alliances, collaborative networks and membership-based organisations, and facilitates discussion of their strengths and challenges. Third, the consultant designs and facilitates participatory dialogue sessions, including one two-day in-person governance workshop, and records reflections, themes and areas of agreement. Fourth, the findings are brought together into a governance roadmap with a recommended institutional pathway.
Who can apply
The consultancy suits professionals with 5 to 9 years of experience in program and project management, governance design, organisational transformation, feminist facilitation and collaborative leadership.
Key dates
The contract runs from 15 August 2026 to 23 December 2026. The application deadline is 11 August 2026. The consultant takes part in online meetings throughout the assignment.
