Principal Data Engineer, Data Warehouse (TPL)

Overview

Engelhart is offering a full-time position for a Principal Data Engineer to join the organization in London. In this hands-on technical leadership role, the successful candidate will own the intraday and end-of-day data serving layer situated between the CTRM platform and downstream consumers. Responsibilities include shaping data architecture, establishing engineering standards, designing robust schemas and serving contracts, managing the warehouse data pipeline, and guiding the data engineering team.

Requirements

Applicants must have demonstrable experience designing and building data warehouses, alongside hands-on production experience with ClickHouse. The role requires practical delivery of a columnar OLAP data platform in production, familiarity with Kafka and event-driven architectures, strong Python skills, and sufficient C# literacy. Candidates are also required to have experience modelling versioned position and profit and loss data, working in a time-sensitive data environment, providing technical leadership, and managing stakeholders. Desirable qualifications include experience in commodities trading or energy markets, exposure to Commodity Trading and Risk Management systems, and familiarity with dbt or data quality frameworks.
