The University of St Andrews Business School in the Economics department is offering a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow position in Climate and Macroeconometrics. The successful candidate will join Dr Martin Bruns on a Leverhulme Trust-funded project titled Short-run Climate Change Effects: Evidence from Structural Vector Autoregression. This research investigates the economic impacts of climate-related shocks and weather extremes at monthly or quarterly intervals through applied and methodological time series studies.

The fixed-term position runs until 31 December 2031, beginning on 1 March 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter, for a duration of 60 months. Primary responsibilities include building a monthly climate shock database for structural vector autoregression models, applying new time series econometrics techniques in programming languages such as R, Matlab, and Python, communicating with external partners including the European Central Bank, the German Institute for Economic Research, and the University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit, sharing findings at international conferences, and participating in the economics department macro cluster research activities.

Who can apply

Applicants must hold or be near completion of a PhD in economics. Candidates are required to possess expertise in macro-econometrics and time series econometrics, experience in managing large datasets, and an interest in environmental sciences.
