Overview

One Good Turn Global Health (OGT), a global health nonprofit based in Austin, Texas, is recruiting a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) and Data Specialist. The organization provides practical health education and care to underserved communities, working with local partners to strengthen health providers through sustainable, replicable health information. The post is new, giving its holder considerable freedom to shape how OGT measures impact, manages data and uses evidence.

The job is part-time and fully remote, and can be done from anywhere in the world. Pay is expected to fall between US$30,000 and US$70,000 per year, depending on experience and the weekly commitment agreed.

The role

The specialist will support the School Health Agency, Resources, and Education (SHARE) Program. Since 2023, SHARE has trained teachers in Kenya as School Health Officers, covering basic health screening, nutrition, menstrual health, oral health and wound and burn care. It has trained 675 officers across 172 schools, reaching about 66,000 students, 3,235 school staff and an estimated 251,000 community members. OGT is preparing wider implementation with an academic and research partner in Kenya and is exploring pilots elsewhere.

The work includes setting up a standard MEL framework and indicators, building data collection, management and quality assurance processes, creating reporting systems, agreeing evaluation and research protocols with Kenyan academic partners, analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, and writing evaluation reports. The specialist will also contribute to manuscripts, abstracts and presentations, manage a team of roughly two to four MEL interns and volunteer analysts, train programme and field staff, and may mentor Kenya-based Master's and PhD candidates.

Requirements

Applicants need a Master's degree or higher in global health, epidemiology, monitoring and evaluation, statistics or a related field, and at least five years of experience monitoring and evaluating global health initiatives. Strong skills in quantitative and qualitative methods, survey development, data quality, reporting and databases, data-collection and visualization tools are required. Experience with marginalized populations and minors, including research ethics, matters, as do strong writing skills.

How to apply

Candidates submit a resume, cover letter and writing sample in PDF format. The cover letter should describe a MEL or data system the applicant built or improved, the problem it addressed and how the data improved a programme. The writing sample can be a manuscript excerpt, abstract, slide deck, evaluation report or similar analysis.

Key dates

The start date and application deadline are both listed as October 1, 2026.
