IAEA Internship 2026: Apply for the FAO/IAEA International Symposium Opportunity and Build a Global Career
Overview
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is offering a 12-month internship at its headquarters in Vienna, Austria. The placement sits in the Insect Pest Control Section of the Joint FAO/IAEA Centre of Nuclear Techniques in Food and Agriculture. The section develops and transfers environmentally friendly technologies, including the Sterile Insect Technique, to help countries manage insect pests that affect agriculture, livestock and human health.
The intern will support preparations for the Fourth FAO/IAEA International Symposium on Area-wide Management of Insect Pests, planned for 2027. Work includes communicating with participants about submissions, acceptance decisions, presentations, posters and applications, helping organise symposium sessions and assisting the programme committee.
A large part of the role involves scientific documentation. The intern will review submitted abstracts, maintain the abstract database in the INDICO conference management system, and help format and organise the abstract book. The placement also includes support for a textbook based on contributions to the symposium, working with authors, editors and external reviewers, formatting chapters to publisher guidelines, checking consistency and accuracy, and supporting the review process.
