Overview

The Graduate Programme at Graphcore offers a permanent role as a Graduate Software Engineer focusing on analysis tools within the Core department. Based in Bristol, United Kingdom, this two-year programme provides hands-on learning where participants design, develop, and test features across command-line tools, libraries, and graphical applications. Software engineers in this team build tools that collect and process profiling information to help users understand resource utilization, optimize applications, and resolve issues.

Who can apply

Applicants must possess programming experience in at least one language, preferably Rust or TypeScript, acquired through study, personal or team projects, internships, placements, or practical work. Candidates should also have exposure to version control, build tools, CI/CD pipelines, or collaborative software development practices. Applicants must already hold the right to work in the UK for the entire duration of the programme without requiring visa sponsorship, as work visas cannot be sponsored for these early careers positions.

What you get

Participants join in a permanent position featuring flexible working arrangements, an up to 5 percent matched pension, and phantom equity. Additional offerings include life assurance, income protection, an electric vehicle scheme via salary sacrifice, and flexible benefits comprising private medical insurance, dental cover, a health cash plan, and a cycle to work scheme. The office environment includes collaborative spaces with free food and an on-site barista.

Requirements

Candidates are expected to bring a logical approach to debugging, testing, and solving unfamiliar problems, alongside clear communication skills and a willingness to learn through feedback. An interest in technologies such as TypeScript, React, Rust, or C++, and curiosity regarding memory management, multithreading, performance profiling, relational databases, or hardware utilization are advantageous, though experience with every utilized technology is not required.

How to apply

Candidates must submit their CV, a cover letter, and answers to the application questions. Successful applicants will be invited to complete a technical assessment, and candidates reaching the final stage will attend in-person assessments.

Key dates

The start date for the programme is September 2027. The application deadline is midnight on 29th November 2026, though early applications are encouraged as positions may close prior to the advertised deadline. Applicants are notified of their application outcome by early December at the latest, with final-stage in-person assessments taking place in early spring.
