An investment platform dedicated to strengthening food security and agricultural productivity across Africa is offering a one-year, full-time consultancy position for a Finance and Administrative Assistant. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Head of Finance and Operations to support a lean international team. This full-time role is structured as a fully remote position operating across multiple time zones.
Who can apply
Applicants must hold a Bachelor degree or an equivalent qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. Candidates are required to have a minimum of four years of experience in finance, accounting, or administration, including practical background in handling payments, invoices, financial reconciliations, and accurate records. Essential qualifications include advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, fluency in written and spoken English, and professional working proficiency in French. Additional advantages include holding or working toward a professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or AAT, and having prior experience with investment funds, development finance institutions, financial services firms, or remote work environments.
What you get
The selected consultant receives a one-year fixed-term, full-time consultancy contract that is fully remote. Compensation is determined through a financial proposal process in which applicants submit their proposed monthly lump-sum fee in US dollars, which is evaluated alongside qualifications, interview performance, practical tests, and available budgetary limits.
Requirements
The role demands strong organizational skills, high accuracy, the ability to manage multiple deadlines with minimal supervision, strong attention to detail, and a high level of integrity and confidentiality. Responsibilities encompass preparing payment requests, processing invoices, conducting bank reconciliations, assisting with month-end and year-end closing activities, tracking budgets and cash-flow forecasts, and supporting donor reporting. Additional duties include managing procurement registers, arranging travel and visa processes, acting as Secretary to the Investment Committee, managing governance records, supporting audits, and handling recruitment administration.
