Equality Labs Hiring: Marketing & Communications Director | $97,500/Year
Overview
Equality Labs is hiring a Marketing & Communications Director to lead its communications strategy and strengthen its public presence. The organization works on caste oppression, religious fundamentalism and other structural inequalities affecting South Asian communities. The position is full-time and remote within the United States, with an annualized salary of USD $97,500. It reports to the Executive Director and supervises one team member. The Pacific Time Zone is preferred, and the Director should expect occasional in-person team strategy meetings and travel to represent the organization.
What the role involves
The Director develops and carries out a marketing and communications strategy across the organization's platforms, managing newsletters, social media, press releases and websites. Media relations are a major part of the job: keeping a press list, coordinating coverage around events and campaigns, answering media inquiries and supporting speaking opportunities for team members. The Director also writes press releases, works with designers on digital assets, edits research reports and helps launch public-facing research. Project management includes overseeing distribution and marketing of two podcasts. Planned projects include several report launches, a Digital Security Learning Series, a Healing Justice and Mindfulness Series, and a merchandise store.
Requirements
Applicants should have at least seven years of marketing and communications experience, particularly on the client or agency side, with a strong background in media relations and stakeholder, community and partner engagement. Excellent written and verbal communication is essential. The organization wants someone who understands inclusive communications through an anti-oppression and healing justice lens and can work respectfully with people facing multiple forms of marginalization. Knowledge of South Asian organizing and experience with social justice movements is an advantage.
How to apply
Candidates should prepare an updated resume and a cover letter that highlight communications leadership, media relations, marketing expertise and commitment to inclusive communications. The position was posted in September 2026.
