Elba Hope Foundation Hiring Operations Manager | Remote US Contractor Role

Overview

The Elba Hope Foundation (EHF) is hiring an Operations Manager as a remote contractor for the United States, based in New York. EHF is a founder-led international nonprofit working across the United Kingdom, Sierra Leone and the United States, advancing equity through youth advocacy, access to opportunities, employability and education. It has a lean global team and is strengthening its internal systems and people practices. The manager works closely with the Director of Operations and has regular access to senior leadership.

Responsibilities include managing day-to-day operations across departments and locations with clear workflows, owners and deadlines, coordinating people operations such as recruitment administration, onboarding and offboarding, contractor administration, performance processes and training, maintaining standard operating procedures, the Operations Manual and knowledge management, coordinating finance administration, procurement, vendor onboarding, contracts and renewals with finance staff and advisors, and linking Programs, Development, Communications and leadership. Routine issues are handled independently, with financial, legal or specialist matters escalated. Current tools include Asana, BambooHR, HubSpot, Egnyte, Google Workspace and finance tools.

What you get

The contractor fee is 5,800 to 6,250 dollars per month, depending on experience, for about 35 to 40 hours a week with some flexibility around deadlines. There is regular working-hour overlap between the UK and US and occasional travel. Performance reviews take place at three and six months.

Requirements

Applicants need at least five years of nonprofit, business or organisational operations experience with management responsibility, experience running operations across several functions, and strong project management and organisation. Experience in people operations, systems, vendor and contract administration, financial administration and process improvement is valuable, as are judgement, discretion, communication and follow-through. International or multi-entity nonprofit experience is an advantage. EHF also looks for strong contextual understanding of Africa and alignment with its mission, through lived experience, professional engagement or a meaningful connection to the communities served.
