Overview
Together for Girls is hiring a Deputy Director, Financial Planning and Analysis, a full-time remote role in its Operations team. It is open to people based in the United States or United Kingdom with the right to work there, and reports to the Senior Director of Finance. The post covers budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, grant management and proposal costing across its US and European entities, working with Finance, Development, Grants Management and Program teams, and turning complex financial information into clear insights for non-finance colleagues.
What the role involves
The Deputy Director supports annual budgets, coordinates periodic re-forecasts and improves planning tools. They produce consolidated reporting, including quarterly budget-to-actual variance analysis, forecasts and financial health metrics, and build financial models and scenario analyses. For an assigned grant portfolio they monitor burn rates, forecast spending, reconcile activity with the general ledger and prepare donor financial reports. They also help programme teams strengthen grant forecasting, build funder-ready proposal budgets, manage staff level-of-effort allocations and flag funding gaps and over- or under-allocation.
Requirements
Candidates need 5 to 8 years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit or NGO finance, financial planning and analysis, or grants finance. Strong Excel skills are required, along with experience in accounting and financial management systems such as QuickBooks or other ERP systems. Experience with institutional donors such as the European Union, FCDO and Global Affairs Canada is highly desirable, as is knowledge of personnel cost allocation, indirect cost recovery and donor effort reporting. Experience across multiple legal entities or currencies is preferred.

Salary depends on location: $97,000 to $113,000 in Washington, DC; $111,000 to $127,000 in Boston, MA; and 72,800 to 83,400 pounds in London. The organisation also offers paid leave and health insurance, though benefits vary by country. Travel is up to 10%, and core hours are 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, with the rest flexible.
