Overview

CARE is hiring an Associate General Counsel for Corporate, Technology and Governance. The position is full-time and hybrid, based in Atlanta, Georgia, with Washington, DC also named as a possible location. It sits in CARE's Finance and Administration department and reports to the General Counsel. CARE is an international humanitarian and development organization, and the role gives strategic legal advice to leadership and internal teams on corporate matters and on emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, data privacy, cybersecurity and digital transformation.

What you get

The advertised salary is $109,139.97 to $152,250.26 per year, depending on experience, education, skills, internal equity and the relevant labor market. Travel is expected for about 10 to 15 percent of the time, with the posting allowing up to 20 percent.

The attorney advises on technology transactions, corporate arrangements, procurement, SaaS agreements, licensing, digital services and data-sharing agreements, and on responsible AI governance. They give legal guidance on information security, cyber incidents and privacy compliance, and draft, review and negotiate agreements such as strategic partnerships, memoranda of understanding and cross-border agreements. The role also covers international legal issues, including corporate structures, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, investigations and tax-related considerations, and supports governance through Board and committee processes, bylaws, delegations of authority, policy review, enterprise risk management and compliance frameworks.

Requirements

Applicants need a Juris Doctor from an accredited US law school, current good standing to practice law, and roughly 8 to 10 years of experience. English is required. Experience in corporate law, technology transactions, privacy, cybersecurity, governance and international matters is relevant, and experience advising boards, senior executives or nonprofit and international organizations is valuable.
