Overview
All The Elements CIC is looking for a freelance Community Board Lead to help create a new community-led structure that gives members of its network a stronger voice in decision-making. The work is part-time and can be done remotely from the UK. All The Elements is a nonprofit network supporting people who work to create change around diversity in the UK outdoors, linking diversity, outdoor activities, nature, conservation and environmental issues. It runs with a small part-time team and community volunteers.
What you get
The rate is 250 pounds per day. The work is expected to take about two days per month for three months, though other arrangements may be considered depending on project needs. The start date is as soon as possible after recruitment.
What the role involves
The lead will research existing community board and advisory models, consult community members on the purpose, representation and structure they want, and turn the findings into practical systems. Tasks include developing recruitment processes and meeting structures, writing a role description for the Chair, setting out how recommendations reach the main Board, creating an implementation timeline and making sure the structures can evolve with community needs.
Requirements
Applicants need strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, strong project management skills with experience delivering projects from start to finish, and experience in community consultation such as focus groups or surveys. They should understand traditional board structures, be creative and flexible, be committed to making the outdoors more accessible and representative, and know the All The Elements community and its intersectional work.
Experience in research, emergent strategy, alternative governance, board-level work, nonprofits and CICs is desirable, as are lived or professional experience linked to underrepresented groups in the community and familiarity with Google Workspace, Airtable and Trello.
