Overview

ActionAid Bangladesh is recruiting an Associate Programme Officer for Research and Documentation. The post sits in the Programme, Policy and Campaigns Department under the Resilience and Climate Justice priority and supports the Just Energy Transition (JET) project, which promotes fair access to renewable energy and evidence-based policy advocacy in Bangladesh.

The job is based in Dhaka on a contract running until 30 September 2027. One position is available.

What you get

The monthly gross salary is BDT 63,310, plus other benefits under the organisation's HROD Policy. The vacancy lists a festival bonus, provident fund, gratuity, medical benefits, group life insurance and mobile and internet allowances.

Overview of duties

About 40 percent of the work is research, documentation and knowledge management: studying energy transition trends, technologies and policies, compiling and checking field and secondary data, writing reports, policy briefs, case studies and presentations, and maintaining databases and archives. Around 20 percent is programme coordination, including following work plans, organising field visits, workshops and dialogues, writing minutes and progress reports, and liaising with Finance, Administration, Human Resources and Communications. The rest covers advocacy, communication, training materials and support for Community-led Action Research with partners, civil society groups, academic institutions and communities.

Requirements

Applicants need a Bachelor's degree in a field such as Development Studies, Environmental Science, Public Policy, International Relations, Social Science or Economics, and at least two years of relevant experience in development organisations, research institutions, NGOs or think tanks. Strong written and spoken Bangla and English are required, along with competence in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Training in research methods, data management, climate change or renewable energy is an advantage.

Applications go through the ActionAid Bangladesh recruitment portal. Applying is free, and candidates are warned to be cautious of anyone asking for money. Only people who meet the stated requirements are encouraged to apply.
